Where do i start? Celie's life has been nothing but chaos sense she was born. Her father raped her. She married a man she doesnt love. The question is does she even like man or women? I do not even think she could answer that question. Although it is pretty obvious she doesn't like man seeing as she is obssesed with Shug Avery. I am more confused about where Shug Avery stands. Does she like men or women. I think she likes Mr___ but now im starting to feel the sense that she has a crush on Celie. What do you guys think about that situation? Then there is the whole Harpo, Sophia, and Squeak situation. Do you guys think that Sophia and Harpo still love eachother? Personally, I love Sophia becasue she knows how to stick up for herself. The last situation i want to mention is NETTIE ! I can't belive she is alive. I thought for sure Mr.___ killed her. Why do you guys think she moved to Africa ? That part was confusing to me. Does anyone have any predictions about wether or not Celie will leave Mr.___ and try to move in with Nettie? This book has so much things going on i clearly did not cover everything so feel free to bring in things i missed =).

In my opinion I think she likes women and her obsession with Shrug Avery proves it all. I think we get to know Shug very well in some chapters and we know that she has a crazy personality, so I think she might like both. I think Harpo and Sophia still have very strong feelings for each other but they are not able to understand each other. I don’t think Cellie will leave Mr.___ to go with Nettie but I think she will try to see her again some how.
Yea I couldn't really believe that Nettie was still alive, but it seemed like she would come back eventually. I agree with Laura, I think she'll try to see Nettie again or Nettie will come back to pay her a visit. Maybe Celie will kill Mr. _____. I think that in the end, Celie, Netie, and Shug are going to live together. Something like that, but I'm not really sure at this point. The whole hiding letters thing, I read it in another book too. "The Curious Incident with the dog" something something. The main character's dad told him that his mom died a long time ago, and later he finds out his mom is alive and that his dad has been hiding the letters. Anyways... What would you guys do if you were in Celie's place?

but on with the good stuff, i think that celie likes women mostly because how she describes her attration to shug and not mr.____ at all. I also think that harpo and sophia still like eachother but he's just with squeak becuase she does what he asks. He feels like he needs to be in control seeing how his fathers marrage is, thats how he was raised so he feels a disobediant wife like Sophia is wrong. Also i cant say im not surprised with Nettie being alive. She seemed like a main character in the beginning, so for her to just die off that fast wasnt possible. I think she probally moved to Africa because it was a change. Maybe she heard that there were more africans there that could actually have a life and not be treated like they were and she was safe there. Shes young, why not explore!
I think that Celie likes women but does not realize that she likes women yet. I also think that Shug Avery is the same. I feel that although she is married and has male partners, she is falling in love with Celie and that means she also likes women. Sophia and Harpo are definetly still in love with each other. They always will be because they are each other's first. But because of family issues and other unsolved issues, they are unable to talk to each other about it, that does not prevent them from being in love with each other. I think that Nettie moved to Africa because she was on the mission with the people she lives with. They are going there to help the people in Africa since she couldnt find a job and has nowhere to stay. She decided to go with the family. I do think that Celie will leave Mr. ___ sooner or later but I'm not sure if its going to be with Nettie or Shug or maybe even a new character to come. It is only half the book.
ok so I finished reading and I definatly did not think that she would just be able to leave so easily... I thought Mr. _______ would do something to her, but apparently not. Kind of a let down.
In my opinion, Celie likes women. On the other hand I think it is Shug who is the confused one. One night she will sleep with a man and then the next she'll be with Celie. I think that Celie and Shug truly love each other but may be scared of what will happen if they do reveal their love for each other. With Harpo and Sofia, I do think that they love each other. It is pretty obvious to me that they still care for each other and that Harpo got Squeak because he was lonely without Sofia, and because she does everything he tells her to. I kind of think that Celie will end up moving in with Nettie, but it could possibly be Nettie moving in with Celie and Shug. I hope something finally good happens for her because like Casey said, she has been through so much!
