Well, this was an interesting book. Did any of you guys predict that Shug would end up leaving Celie? Also, do you think that maybe Shug was able to show Celie how to love even though she turned her back on her? I think that Celie was able to show affection was no longer scared of herself, after Shug opened Celie's eyes. Is there anything you guys wish you could have changed?

Shug Avery defintly inspired Celie to open up she brought out "The Color Purple" in her, the beauty. Celie was afraid to show her affection towards Shug because it was unheard of back during the Harlem Renaissance for a woman to be attracted to another woman. Luckily, now a day it is more accepting. Although I was angry when Shug left Celie she did help Celie to open up and to stop hiding her feelings. If there was one thing I could change about this book I would have made the ending more exciting by adding in twists because it was kind of disappointing seeing as the whole book was full of surprises so the ending was a let down.

I definitely did not think that Shug would leave Celie because I felt that they would love each other so much, both having been hurt by men before. I do believe that Shug showed Celie how to love, because she helped her find her own "God" and taught her to enjoy life. Without these aspects, I don't think that Celie would have had the courage to actually fall in love. If I could change something, I think at least make Shug fall in love with someone other than an 18 year old.

I didn’t think Shug will leaver he, but I have to say Cellie became a strong person with the help of Shug and maybe thats why Cellie has no regret. She learned to love and smile because of SHUG.

I definatly wished that the ending could have been changed, it seemed to like... a happy ending. Happy endings make stories a little boring, after all she went through. I thought that she would have a more like, interesting ending because of all that stuff that happend to her before. She had a horrible beginning and everything ended up being alright, too much like a Cinderella story for me.
